Thanksgiving Sunday was special in several ways and especially so for me. Tarsem Singh, Harpreet Kaur and their extended family prepared langar to celebrate Puneet Singh’s fifth birthday. It is always our blessing when this serviceful family joins us here in Millis. They love us, and we love them.
During Gurdwara, Inderpreet Singh gave a talk about Guru Nanak as described in one of the writings (known as vars) of Bhai Gurdas. Bhai Gurdas was a scholar and Gursikh who served seven of the Gurus, from Guru Nanak Dev Ji to Guru Hargobind Sahib. He was a learned man and scholar, and his writings about the Gurus and the Siri Guru Granth Sahib are so respected that they are sung in Gurdwara along with the shabds from the Siri Guru Granth Sahib. The pauri (or section) that Inderpreet Singh spoke about was “Satigur Nanak Pargatiaa” which is frequently sung in Gurdwara. It says that when Guru Nanak came into the world with the message of Sikhi it was like the sun breaking through the clouds. When Inderpreet spoke I had the realization that we as Sikhs bring sunlight into our surroundings by being kind to all.
What’s coming up next? We are looking ahead to First Friday Gurdwara on Dec. 2 and then the following week a Siri Akhand Path from December 8-11.
I look forward to see you soon!
Yours in Divine Light,
Siri Sevak Kaur
